China’s industries are focusing on the ‘dual-carbon’ goal, which aims to reduce carbon emissions and pollution. This is important for making the economy and society more environmentally friendly and sustainable. The daily skincare industry is also working towards this goal. 3TOP supports the idea of sustainable development and has done well in saving energy, reducing carbon, and protecting the environment. 3TOP shows its commitment to sustainability in three main ways: how it grows raw materials, how it runs its factories, and the packaging it uses. The company’s approach includes sustainable sourcing, eco-friendly manufacturing, and packaging materials.
1. Raw material production base
Selection of sustainable raw materials

3TOP prioritizes sustainable certified raw materials, such as organic plant extracts and natural ingredients, to reduce the negative impact on the environment. One of the representative ingredients is tea oil, which is not only an edible oil but also has a long history of skincare. Tea oil has the ability to nourish the hair and protect the scalp. Tea oil is rich in nutrients that nourish the hair from root to tip, providing comprehensive care for the hair. For many people, tea oil is a natural hair care product worth trying. There is also Tea Saponin Extract, a natural plant extract that is derived from tea meal cake after oil extraction, which has a variety of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that also make it a great product for natural treatments.
3TOP uses tea saponin in their products, which come from their own tea plantation. This plantation covers 10,000 acres in Yong Tai County, near Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province. 3TOP carefully manages the quality of the tea plant from the source, and adjusts how it’s processed for use in skincare industry. The company’s big tea plantation is well-managed to make sure the raw materials are pure and safe. With one way of doing things, 3TOP can keep the quality of the raw materials consistent and reliable.

The organic and environmentally friendly planting model

In 3TOP’s base, we adopt organic cultivation methods and refuse to use chemical pesticides and fertilizers. We let the plants grow under the naturally moisturized rain, and live in harmony with the soil and microorganisms to ensure the purity and safety of the raw materials. At the same time, 3TOP focuses on preserving biodiversity and protecting the homes where all kinds of creatures thrive. In addition to organic farming, 3TOP also actively introduces advanced water-saving irrigation systems to minimize the waste of water by precisely controlling the amount of water and irrigation time. We also focus on the treatment and recycling of wastewater to ensure that every drop of water is utilized to its fullest value.
2. Production plant
Energy saving and efficiency improvement
3TOP follows a ‘green and caring’ production approach. They’ve built a big, eco-friendly factory that’s 40,000 square meters big, with a 60-acre industrial site and a high-standard clean workshop. They stick to a ‘save energy, go green, protect the environment’ policy. 3TOP uses up-to-date equipment and lines that meet the GMP standards, which are used in making medicine. In their factory where they make shampoo and other things, the gases released are much lower than what China’s domestic standards requirement. This helps them save over 600 cubic meters of natural gas every day and more than 600,000 RMB in gas costs each year.

Clean energy use
By installing 2 sets of photovoltaic power generation systems, 3TOP utilizes green energy and reduces electricity consumption, thus realizing high efficiency and energy saving in production. Generating electricity with photovoltaics not only significantly reduces dependence on traditional energy sources, but also significantly reduces carbon emissions, contributing to the earth’s environmental protection.
Green Process
3TOP is constantly exploring green production processes to achieve some special environmental goals. For example, rejecting plastic microbeads. Everyday toiletries often contain large amounts of plastic microbeads, which are plastic particles smaller than 2 millimeters. Because they’re tiny, when you use toiletries with plastic microbeads, these beads go down the sink, get past water treatment plants, and end up in the ocean. Fish and shellfish eat them, and then they become part of our food and even our bodies. In 2015, a group in Europe that works with cosmetics and personal care said that companies should stop using plastic microbeads in their products on their own.

3TOP has been making skin care and hand wash products with natural stuff instead of tiny plastic beads for a while now. They use things like walnuts, almonds, and olive pits because they’re just right for making cosmetics and they clean gently without scratching your skin. 3TOP turns these into natural scrubs to take the place of plastic beads. Also, natural stuff can sometimes make the products look darker, but 3TOP fixes this by adding light colors like titanium dioxide. This is safe and won’t bother your skin. Plus, 3TOP uses a special kind of cornstarch that’s a bit rough. It cleans well, doesn’t scratch, and breaks down easily, which is good for the environment.

Recycling of waste water and gas
3TOP follows the idea of ‘green mission, clear future’ when dealing with waste water and gas. They’ve put in place systems to recycle waste water and clean waste gas in their factory. The waste water system uses good filters and special cleaning to turn dirty water from making things into water that can be used again, which is better for the environment. At the same time, the waste gas system uses fancy ways to clean up bad gases and make them safe. The waste water system can clean up 100 tons of water every day, and the waste gas system can cut down chemical gas by 70% and CO2 gas by another 30% for each thing they make. Plus, 3TOP takes care of how they use and throw away things like raw materials and chemicals. They have a system to keep them separate and store them, and they work with another company to recycle them on time.
3. Environmentally friendly package materials
Use of premium eco-friendly materials:
3TOP knows that old packaging can hurt the environment, so they use eco-friendly materials instead. They use biodegradable plastics for their product packaging. These plastics break down easily in nature and don’t harm the environment or plants. Biodegradable plastics are a popular and well-tested choice for packaging. They can break down quickly with the help of special substances that speed up the process. You can find biodegradable packaging like bags, straws, and pens. Since 2020, 3TOP has been working on packaging that can be recycled or will break down in nature. They’ve made small travel-sized pouches that are 10-12 ml, and people in Europe and the United States really like them.

Optimize packaging design
3TOP is also working to make packaging better and use less of it. They figure out just how much space and how heavy their products need, so they can make boxes that are smaller and lighter. This helps to keep the products safe when they’re moved around and also cuts down on waste. For example, 3TOP made a new box for a shampoo brand. It looks nice and saves on ink, cardboard, padding, and the space it takes up in shipping. With the old boxes, you could fit four in a big box that had a picture on it. The new box has a special bottom that store workers can take off and use to handle the shampoo and show it in the store. The new design uses a lot less material. It has a simple “paper cap” that comes off easily to protect the shampoo during shipping and doesn’t need any printing. This better packaging helps save 67 tons of paper, means 52 fewer big trucks are needed for moving the shampoo, and cuts the use of ink by up to 80% every year.
In addition, 3TOP also continues to improve the new pump-press design for other bottled and canned products, saving 8 tons of plastic per year, and 40 tons of paper outer cartons per year by optimizing the packaging process. Newly launched shampoo products have saved about 13% of packaging consumables per bottle by improving the cap and bottle design.
Launched a packaging recycling strategy
Research by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) shows that about 40% of the more than 400 million tons of plastic produced each year comes from packaging and that this plastic packaging is usually used only once before being thrown away. In response, 3TOP has introduced a packaging recycling program to consumers to encourage them to participate in environmental initiatives. Customers can bring empty cosmetic bottles to special stores to recycle them. In return, they get a free sample pack of cosmetics. This helps people to gather and recycle more bottles, which cuts down on trash. The collected bottles will either be turned into new things or used to make energy.

Conclusion
3TOP understands that sustainable development is not just a slogan, but also an action. Therefore, 3TOP actively participates in various environmental public welfare activities, advocates the concept of green consumption, and promotes the development of the industry in a more environmentally friendly and sustainable direction. We hope that through our efforts, more people will understand and pay attention to sustainable development, and jointly contribute to the future of the earth. Choosing our daily chemical products is to choose care and responsibility for the earth and future generations. Let’s witness a greener and better future!
